Mother Teresa’s advice

Many years ago, my wife gave me a copy of some simple advice Mother Teresa had written regarding how to live well. I love the sentiments, although I find them personally very challenging to follow on a daily basis; I don’t always live up to them, but I keep them visible as gentle reminders of how to be a good human being.
“People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered; Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish or ulterior motives; Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies; Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend hours building, someone can destroy overnight; Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may not be enough; Do your best anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; It was never between you and them anyway.”
